The highest number of cores for processors in the market is a 4-core processor. Nevertheless, it seems that Intel is planning to increase the number of processor cores, to 6 cores for their Nehalem platform. On the other hand, what makes the 6-core even more interesting is the fact that it would be compatible with the existing Nehalem motherboards.
Of course, Intel has yet made this official and furthermore, there won’t be any press release by Intel for many more months to come. Personally, I bet that these 6 cores would definitely be amazingly expensive when compared to the existing 4-core processors or rather the quad-core Core i7 975.
Are the 6-core processors the next processing standard?
